This weekends progress

Well, what a weekend.  Was able to make a good bit of progress.  First, replaced the coil, points, condenser.  Added a ballast resistor.  Piddled with it and finally got it to start.  Tried to restart it again later and nothing.  Finally, after letting it sit for a few hours, and some more piddling, I got it to go.  Ironically, I had two plug wires off and was trying to determine if we were getting good spark and it started.  And ran.  On 4 cylinders.  Amazing how resilient these motors could be.  After that, got the points set right and made a new truck out of it.  I don't think the engine makes a full spin before it starts like a top.

The other item of success that I am very pleased with is the light bar for the flatbed that will somewhat replace the rear bumper.  I cut using my CNC Plasma cutter a 66" wide x 7" tall piece of metal that includes holes for a pair of 4" S/T/T LED lights and a pair of 4" clear backup lights, and 3 2" LED lights in the center.  I cut another piece for the back that had no lights, then wrapped a piece of 1-1/2" flat to create the light "box".  Test fit the lights, and man does it look slick.  Had a Memorial Day BBQ yesterday and brought everyone out to the garage to check it out.  I must say proud.

Having tomorrow off, I think I may have a little time to devote to it and not sure where I'll go.  I guess now that it's running, I'll work on getting it stopping.  Then from there, street legal so that I can get it inspected and the title transferred.  Then the real work will begin.
